El ideario de Sigma Project se nutre de la propia etimología de su nombre: la letra “Sigma”, Σ.

La decimoctava del alfabeto griego representa el sumatorio de una serie finita o infinita de elementos, un método agregativo, afirman, de “experiencias acumuladas a título individual en el terreno musical, artístico y personal (que), compartidas en el seno del grupo, se convierten en nuestra fuente de ideas”.

El título de su nuevo programa no deja de ser reflejo de esta idea y este sentir, Ítaca, en referencia al conocido poema de Constantino Kavafis: Cuando emprendas tu viaje hacia Ítaca/ debes rogar que el viaje sea largo,/ lleno de peripecias, lleno de experiencias… Su método agregativo también se muestra en la selección del programa pues en él se agrupan obras como el Cuarteto de Saxofones de Georg Friedrich Haas, cuyo estreno en Latinoamérica y España se debe al grupo, o el estreno absoluto de la segunda entrega del ciclo Poética del Laberinto de Alberto Posadas, Klimmen en dalen, ciclo que el compositor está desarrollando directamente con Sigma Project.

Junto a ellos la más reciente obra de la compositora bilbaína Helga Arias, encargo de la Fundación BBVA, y Zahir V, obra del italiano Simone Movio que la formación grabase para el sello Col Legno.

The idea behind the Sigma Project was inspired by the etymology of its own name: the letter "Sigma," Σ.

The 18th letter of the Greek alphabet represents the summation of a finite or infinite series of elements, an aggregative method, affirms that "experiences accumulated by the individual title of the musical, artistic and personal terrain, [that] shared in the core of the group become our source of ideas."

The title of their new program doesn´t allow this new idea to be reflected and this feeling, Ithaca, in reference to the known poem of Constantine Kavafis: When you begin your voyage to Ithaca/You should beg that the voyage be long/full of surprises, full of experiences... Its aggregative method also shows in the selection of the program because works are grouped such as those of the Saxophone Quartet of Georg Friedrich Haas, whose Latin American and Spanish premier is due to the group, or the absolute premier of the second installment of the period of Labyrinth Poetry of Alberto Posadas, Klimmen en Dalen, and the period that the comopser is developping directly with the Sigma Project.

Together with them, the most recent work of the Bilbaoan composer Helga Arias, in charge of the BBVA Foundation and Zahir V, the work of Italian Simone Movio that the formation recorded for the stamp Col Legno.
